The Letter Packet
For students applying to medical school, the Ƶ Pre-Health Committee will assemble a collated “letter packet” or summary letter about you. It incorporates highlights of your personal data, what your letters have said about you, and a recommendation by the committee. Medical schools (MD and DO) prefer reference letters in this format over individual letters. In contrast, Dental, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Optometry, Veterinary Medicine, and other programs utilize the Centralized Application Service (CAS) and require that individual letters of recommendation be submitted directly by the referee. For more information, contact Dr. Kate Weskamp.
