Housing Selection Process

2026–2027 Academic Year

Visit the Housing Portal to apply to live on or off campus next year.

February 17–27

Returner’s Rights Sign Up

Returner’s Rights are offered to residents who currently reside in Townhouses and Apartments and wish to live in the same room/unit next year. To claim Returner’s Rights, all current roommates must be returning to the same unit or apartment for Fall 2026, except in cases where a roommate is graduating, studying away, or student teaching. If a roommate is not returning for a reason other than these approved exceptions, the remaining members must find new roommate(s) to fill the unit for the fall.

Please note that all Townhouse and Apartment residents must be juniors or seniors. Sign up for Returner’s Rights by completing the Returner’s Rights Request Form in the Housing Portal. Late requests will not be accepted.

March 5

Deadline for Residency Exemptions & Housing Accommodations

All students seeking an exemption to the Ƶ residency policy must apply for a Commuter Housing Exemption Request in the Housing Portal and receive approval to live off campus from Residential Education. Requests must be submitted by 5pm on March 5th for review prior to the Housing Lottery. Students requesting a medical accommodation for housing should contact the Director of Student Accessibility Services at mcruce [at] nebrwesleyan.edu (mcruce[at]nebrwesleyan[dot]edu) prior to the March 5 deadline.

March 5–19

Phase 1: Apply to Participate in the Housing Lottery

Students who sign up by Thursday, March 19 will have access to the Housing Lottery process starting Tuesday, March 5. Late applications will be accepted.

March 23–27

Phase 2: Housing Lottery

Students with a completed Housing Lottery application will receive a notification by Friday, March 20 of their assigned lottery date and time. The Housing Lottery will begin on Monday, March 23 and will conclude on Friday, March 27.

Greek Housing

All Greek chapters determine who will live in the chapter house for the upcoming academic year. Lists are provided to the Residential Education Office. Any student on a Greek chapter housing roster is not allowed to sign up for housing in residential facilities. Please check with your chapter regarding specific policies. Please note that not all Greek chapter houses support break housing for their residents. Residential Education does not provide temporary housing to students over breaks during the academic year. We encourage you to visit with your chapter about your break housing options.

Grade Classification

For housing purposes, class standing is measured by the number of completed semesters during college, not credits. Students that have 1-2 semesters completed are considered “sophomores”, students with 3-4 semesters completed are considered “juniors” and “seniors” are those students that have completed at least 5-6 semesters.
