Matching Gifts

Many employers match their employees’ charitable gifts. Use our Matching Gift search to see if your employer will match your gift to ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ.

Gifts of Grain

Farmers can use their harvest to help support Nebraska Wesleyan by donating a portion of your grain harvest. You can receive a substantial tax advantage by donating grain to ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ since the donated grain never hits income or deductions on tax returns. This simple process requires two steps.

  1. You give the commodity to ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ (with evidence of transfer of title to the University).
  2. ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ promptly sells the commodity, never storing it. That means your gift of grain will have the most impact if you make it while markets are high.

¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ must receive the grain in its own account and sell it in order to preserve your tax benefits. If you sell the grain and transfer the proceeds, it is a taxable sale and a cash contribution to ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ.

¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ has accounts with 11 co-ops serving 184 Nebraska communities, though the list is growing. Virtually anywhere you farm, you can support ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ through the Gift of Grain Program. Current participating co-ops include:

  • Ag Valley
  • All Points Cooperative
  • Aurora Cooperative
  • Cargill
  • Farmers Cooperative
  • Farmers Cooperative Company
  • Farmers Union Co-op
  • Frenchman Valley Co-op
  • Midwest Farmers Co-op
  • Scoular
  • United Farmers Cooperative

If you don’t see your co-op on the list, contact Susy Miller at smiller4 [at] nebrwesleyan.edu (smiller4[at]nebrwesleyan[dot]edu) or (402) 465-2188. We’ll contact your co-op and find out if we can add them to list of participating partners, even if you farm outside Nebraska.

I love Wesleyan! It’s important to me that we share our experiences and memories with each new generation. Volunteering with ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ helps me keep old relationships strong and build new ones. For me, it’s natural to give back to the institution that has been so important in my life.

– James Kernan (’88)

It’s critical that alums get involved and support ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ with both their time and talent if they want it to be a home for students for years to come. I want it to be a relevant option for my own son. I hope that other students have the same love for ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ when they graduate that I do! They were four awesome years!

– Mishayla Freburg (‘11)

We are proud to see how ¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ has continued to evolve to meet the needs of current students—including our daughter—and the rapidly changing world that awaits her generation. We see our monthly gift to Nebraska Wesleyan as an essential investment in the next generation.

– Missy Davis-Schmit (’94) and current parent
